Today we left the homestay in the afternoon to visit a vulcan in the north of Yogyakarta. The name of this vulcano is Merapi. The journey from the centre of the city to the vulcano took one and a half hour. We rode motorbike to get there.
In the slope of the vulcan, the local people stopped us. They said we couldn’t continue the journey to the top of the vulcano without the local guide’s companion. Then we decided to park our motorbike to the nearest parking lot and took a walk.
Since it started to rain, we couldn’t continue the tracking to the top of the vulcano. We stopped by a hut and stayed there for about one and a half hour. As we observed, the rain would take along time to stop. So we decided to go back to the city even the rain was still falling. We arrived at the city all wet from top to toe.
In the next day, we left a liltte bit early to the south of Yogyakarta. We went to the ancient vulcano namely “Nglanggeran”. It is located in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. People said that it was an active vulcano thousands years ago.
There is an artificial lake made by the local people near Nglanggeran mountain. Due to the lack of water, they build this lake to store the rain drops as one of the water resource. We parked the motorbike in the rest aera and went up the stairs to reach this lake.
We went down to the rest area to eat and drink. In the front yard of the house, there were two boys picking up some cloves. They easily climbed up the tree and grabbed the ripe cloves.
These are the green cloves I got from the boy. But actually, the best cloves to pick are the red ones.
And these are the dried-cloves. Redy to use as garnish, spice, or additional ingredient for cigarrete.
Time to say good-bye to the beautiful mountain. The cloud covered the top of the mountain, added a dramatic effect. But, what a pitty, we got the flat tire from the super bumpy road on the way to get here.
We continued the journey to the beach to spend the night in a camp. On the way to get to the beach, we caught some beautiful scenery of the green fileds.
