Quindi….Il giorno successivo alla nostra NON gita alla Golden Rock, ci siamo svegliati riposati e, indossando le scarpe ancora bagnatissime di pioggia monsonica (in una delle scarpe abbiamo trovato anche uno splendido verme), siamo partiti in autobus per la meta successiva: Yangon, la capitale della Birmania. Una delle cose più interessanti dei viaggi in autobus è che, direttamente sporgendosi dai finestrini, si possono comprare cibi vari, tra cui frutta, frittelle, uova. Oggi abbiamo visto anche dei bei cesti di insettoni fritti 🙂
So…the day after our NON excursion to the Golden Rock, we woke up quite energetic and, wearing our shoes which were still soaked with monsoon rain (in one of the shoes we even found a wonderful worm), we took a bus to our next destination: Yangon, the capital of Myanmar. One of the most interesting aspects of these trips by bus is that you can always buy all sorts of food (fruit, pancakes, eggs) by simply leaning over the windows. Today we even saw some baskets with fried big insects 🙂
Yangon è famosa per la Shewadagon Paya, una delle più importanti pagode di tutto il sud-est asiatico. Ed è una città pienissima di stupe varie. Appena scesi alla stazione degli autobus, mentre cercavamo di capire dove andare, ne abbiamo subito trovata e visitata una.
Yangon is famous for its Shewadagon Paya, one of the most important pagodas of south-east Asia. And, on top of that, there are stupas everywhere in the city. Right after having arrived to the bus station, while we were trying to understand where to go, we immediately found and visited one of them.
Ci piace osservare i modi vari e creativi con cui la gente si sposta, e non smettiamo mai di scoprirne di nuovi, del tipo: signora di mezza età sul cassone di un camion, comodamente seduta su una bella sedia di legno con davanti un tavolo e altre tre sedie vicine, come se stesse prendendo il tè.
We like looking at the creative ways which local people use to move around, and we keep discovering new ones, such as: a middle aged lady behind a truck, comfortably sitting on a nice wooden chair in front of a table, as if she was taking a cup of tea.
Alla fine la nostra giornata è stata quasi tutta occupata dal lungo viaggio…dopo una passeggiata in centro tra questi palazzi coloniali, siamo stramazzati a letto…Domani è un altro giorno!
In the end, our trip by bus took us almost the entire day…After a walk in the city centre, were we saw these colonial buildings, we collapsed into bed….Tomorrow is another day!
